This is an example of a creative CV that I like, this CV is to do with somebody who is a graphic designer and the way that they have made their creative CV is by making it look almost like a newspaper and on the pages where the smaller ads are kept, this also looks slightly like a comic book as well with the graphics on this page that not only look well designed but also suit each different part of the CV because each different graphic fits the different kind of sub headings.
also another cool feature about this is the colour scheme for the creative CV
however this creative CV I feel isn't that good one reason why I feel this isn't good is because all of the writing is wrapped around an image and this could make the CV difficult to read as the writing changes rotation around the page, compared to the CV above this one doesn't have as much structure and the layout is different where as the top CV is laid out better and a lot easier to read without having any difficulty of finding each part of the CV easily.
this is another CV which in general I don't like too much, the reasons for this are the fact it looks like too much text so this could get boring through reading it, the design in general may look good but this also looks messy with all the lines and not much space around the page so it makes it look cramped, also with the lines it does make some of the CV look a bit messed up and by that I mean almost like the CV has parts which are split to different sides of the page so for example something would start at the top left but also finish off at a different irrelevant point on the page.
I like this example of a CV mainly because of it's clean and simple design, the colours mix well so it makes the CV look better and calmer instead of big bright colours, also the way that this is presented including at the bottom with the adobe logos for it's different software, also the layout for the text is simple but effective as it is easy to see the different parts and it's easy to read, also with not a large amount of text it makes the page nicer to look at as it is not filled with text.
this is the final CV that I like, the reason I like this one is although it has more text it is laid out clearly so each part of it is separated into different sections that are clear and easy to read, the colour scheme is also good helping show different parts of the CV as well as making it look good, for example the sub headings are colour coded differently to help show where they are and to stand out to the eye, also along with colours the graphics used help suit the CV and the general idea of who this person is and what they are able to do, and another good use of these graphics is to get a break from the text every now and again.

working with a client: client brief compare
when working with a client or with a new company before starting a new project it is important to start the plan for what you need to do when you start a project, a reason for this is so both you and the client understand what will be done/what is needed to be done and also how the final outcome will look, one of the main parts of planning is the brief and when working with a client it is extremely important to have a client brief because this is needed to make sure the client you are working with is getting what they want e.g. a website and that all of the content being used is suitable and related to their business, a client brief could also consist of milestones with times and dates, so like a schedule it will have what you plan to do and when you plan to finish that certain part so in a website you might want to make a gallery so on the client brief you would put that in and put a date you would like to have it finished, this is important so a client can understand how long each part of the project can take,

the differences and similarities between the two client briefs:
the two briefs are to do with construction but are both similar and different in a few ways, here are some differences and similarities between the two briefs:
the first brief uses a simpler approach by mainly using ticked boxes and diagrams to help show what will be done on the project whereas the second client brief uses more writing to help show what they will do, one way in which they are similar is by putting most of the contact details, client details and budgets at the top of the client brief, the first brief could be easy to use but with all the ticks it could cause confusion when the client looks at the brief, whereas the second brief is more tidy and laid out in a cleaner design making it tidy and easy to find and read information.
a difference between these briefs is in the first link they show sizes of what each room will be along with how many rooms as well as what will be in these rooms, but in the other link they talk about what they want there final product to resemble so this could be useful in a client brief to help make it more clear on what the client will be getting this could also be a good idea to put on what you are adding or having on the project so the client will be able to understand what the final product could look like so for example when making a website for a client you could include examples of websites to show inspiration and how the website could look similar and also adding on the brief what you will be putting into the website.
the second brief shows how many people are in their company so this could be important just in case they get someone random coming on to the site whereas the first brief does not show how many people are in their company.

Back to college:
Now it's September we are back in college this time for our second year of the interactive media course and this year we will be working not only with online briefs but actually with clients "real world clients" as apposed to more situation briefs that are made up online to help add a theme to what we have to do, we have also already been given a project by Julian to make a drag and drop game and we are now starting the planning on both the game as well as what we will need to do during the client based course.
Also something different this year is we were meant to be doing 2d animation but now we are doing 3d animation instead, we will also be working with more actionscript 3.
this is just mainly an update of how we are back at college and some of the brief parts on what we will be doing at college and how I will be back to updating the blog with parts of what I am doing on the course with also screenshots or links to help show what I am currently working on/learning.

E-zine review/essay
For this project we had to make an E-zine, taking pictures
of all around Weymouth, and for each zine we needed a theme for our zine and
for my zine I decided to choose the theme of creative, for my e-zine I had 8
pages and the document size was a4, one issue that I kind of had with the a4
dimension was the size of the pictures I had taken, so it lead to me resizing
some of the images to suit the dimensions of the pages, we were also able to go
on two shoots to take photos for the e-zine to get some pictures for the
e-zine.
For this project we had to make an e-zine which contained
pictures from around Weymouth, the e-zine also had to have some kind of theme
to it as well and the theme I chose for my e-zine was “creative”, after
creating the e-zine we had to upload the e-zine to a website called www.issuu.com
When I was planning my project and thinking about what I
could base my e-zine on at the start of this unit I wasn’t sure about what to
do and how my e-zine would look, but after doing research I was able to decide
what it would look like, before we went on the second shoot I was able to
decide on the theme for my E-zine as well which was creative and on the second
shoot I was able to think about that a lot more, this was a good thing that I
had a theme because I was able to think about it and also set myself an
objective on what to think about when taking my photos.
When I was deciding on what theme to do I thought creative
would be a good idea as it would be a chance to use different angles, and this
was a good theme especially after the research on the tilt shift effect which
also helped me choose the creative theme
During my research for the project I decided to look at a
photographers work and the photographer I chose to research more about was
called Olivio Barbieri and the technique he uses is called “Tilt shift”, and
this effect makes a picture of something real look more like a model/toy:
After looking more at tilt shift images and Olivio’s work I
decided to try and make this tilt shift effect myself, however after finding
out that these tilt shift images were taken with a tilt shift lens, but after
some research I was able to find a tutorial on how to recreate this effect in
Photoshop and so I was able to learn that effect and use it more, but usually
in some of my images they weren’t really good for the tilt shift effect so
instead I used certain parts used in the tilt shift effect to make the images
look nicer e.g. using the blur or change in levels for the colours.
The edit (how I decided to edit my photos, talk about how I
wanted to try out a tilt shift effect or more of a blur to show the main part
of the photo):
The effects I used for my images were mainly inspired by
Olivio Barbieri and he took photos using a tilt shift lense, and although I
didn’t have a tilt shift lense Iwas able
to make a tilt shift effect in photoshop adding blurs changing
contrasts/levels.
After the research at first I looked through my photos I had
taken to choose what photos I would use in my E-zine, and then with the rest of
the photos I didn’t need and then arranging the photos separately, also I
looked at different ways to present the E-zine, originally I had the pages full
of a few pictures however that changed to just one or two to make the E-zine
look simple but effective with the images used as well as the positioning of
each image, also after the first shoot I only had a few good images and this
was mainly because I didn’t really know what I was looking for and how I would
take certain pictures, so then we also were able to go on a second shoot and on
that shoot I knew what pictures I was taking and how I would take those photos
and what techniques I could use and what kind of angle to take the pictures
from so the second shoot was much better with me being able to choose more
pictures to use for the final edit as well as still using some images from the
first shoot.
The font I used for the e-zine was Impact, this was the only
kind of font I used just to keep the same feel of the e-zine throughout, also the
font I think helped suit my e-zine’s theme, as the font added more of an
impact, but it was simple but effective, also the reason I chose the impact
font was because I felt that was really the only font that suited my E-zine and
it’s theme and I felt If I used a different font it could slightly ruin the
effect for the E-zine.
The reason I chose the positioning for the images was
because I didn’t want the e-zine to look to cramped and also I wanted to make
it have an impact with not many pictures but it would also be more effective,
the images at first were more cramped but now they are spaced around more with
different positions for the images so having one image in the top left and also
in the bottom right on a separate page, the reason I decided to go with the
simple one or two images per page was because it looked slightly more effective
and it meant it was easy to look at without everything being all cramped on to
one page and to make it look unique on each page.
Ethical/legal considerations (copyright of the images? And
for things like ethical issues talk about what it represents, also how there shouldn’t
be any ethical issues or copyright issues):
Although there could be legal or ethical issues with many
pictures, it seem my e-zine/photos I have taken won’t or aren’t effected by
legal issues such as copyright as the photos I have taken were taken by me and
are all original, and there shouldn’t be any ethical issues, so my e-zine
should be fine as there won’t be any religious issues or any other kinds of
ethical issues.
Overall I have learnt a lot from this, such as learning
photo techniques, and also throughout this assignment learning how to take
photos which will help with my e-zine as well as learning some Photoshop skills
to help edit my final pictures.
I think this assignment has overall gone well except one
issue I had was one the first shoot I wasn’t really sure how to take photos
very well but by the second shoot I had learnt some more skills when taking
photos so the second shoot was much more successful.
The images I feel overall suited my theme well, and
especially after the edit I feel they looked a lot nicer and did suit my
creative theme.
